TOPSHELF OBSESSIONS: CHIC FUNTIONALITY IN FAUX FUR VESTS

How quickly things change and by things I do mean the weather. Just a week ago it was 70 degrees in New York. Now there’s a brisk cold air that fills the city in the day leading to colder temperatures at night. The only positive that comes from colder weather is winter fashion ; specifically speaking of faux fur!

The first sign of brisk air I pull out my faux fur vests. They re the perfect addition to any look with an added of layer for warmth. If you layer a faux fur vest right, let’s say over a denim jacket, a light leather, or even a blazer you can pull of a look of chic functionality. There’s no rules to this! I will wear a faux fur vest to the office, on date night, out to brunch, and even to run my errands on the weekends. One must always dress to impress even if not meaning to. Now let’s go into each of those examples and how you can pull these looks together.

 

 

It’s ok to want to look chic at the office. A good way to create a faux fur vest office look can be achieved with so simple as a suit. Get a slim leg trouser, printed blouse, a well tailored single button blazer, and booties. You still look polished and professional just now you have an instant touch of glam.

 

 

Date night is where you might want to turn up the sex appeal! Pair your faux fur vest with a stand out color form fitting dress, preferably the same length as the vest if not no longer than the beginning of your calf. If you are going to choose a midi dress a sexy high heel pump will do. However if you are daring enough to wear a mini then you can air with a high ankle bootie. Tying it all together with a sleek clutch and bold lip.

 

Brunch is so fun and versatile that there are just so many ways to make a faux fur vest the topic of discussion over he bottomless mimosas. Remember when I said there’s no rules to this, well this is the opportunity to pull out your most distressed oversized boyfriend jeans, longline metallic pleated skirts, or leather pants. Yes I said leather hunty! Pair either of those bottoms with vintage tour t-shirts from your favorite artists, a sweatshirt from your alma mater, or my fall to winter fave “a black turleneck”.  Because fun is on the menu this goes for our shoes too. I’m talking about elaborate lace up booties, studded suede over the knee boots, or killer detailed stilettos.

 

 

I was not joking when I said you cab be FAB in your faux fur vest while running errands too my dear. Just think cool, comfy, athletic chic. This can be sweatpants or leggings, oversized sweatshirts, lounge wear shirts, sneakers, topknot, hoops, sunnies, and a big tote bag to fit all your items.
