HEALTHY LIVING: GOLDEN MILK LATTES & FIBROID WELLNESS

During a recent trip to The Hamptons, I visited the beloved Tate’s Bake Shop in South Hampton. A charming little bakery known for its signature green exterior and even more iconic cookies. While browsing the drink menu, I ordered an Iced Golden Milk Latte, which felt like the perfect cool, grounding choice. If you’re not familiar with Golden Milk Lattes, they’re typically made with a blend of turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and your choice of non-dairy milk (I go for either oat or coconut). It’s creamy, soothing, and packed with anti-inflammatory properties. They’re often lightly sweetened with maple syrup or raw honey (both natural sweeteners that add a touch of comfort without spiking inflammation). But for me it’s more than just a trendy drink, it’s part of my healthy healing routine.
As someone who’s been managing fibroids since I was 16, including two surgeries, I know firsthand how much of a toll they can take on your body and spirit. Last year, I found out I had two small fibroids again. Rather than go down the surgical route for a third time, I decided to approach things differently. I committed to a clean eating lifestyle, became sober-curious, and built my own personal apothecary filled with herbs, vitamins, and natural remedies. Golden Milk Lattes became one of those small but mighty rituals, rooted in turmeric and ginger, that help support my system naturally while giving me a sense of comfort and grounding.
How Golden Milk Lattes Support Fibroid Management Holistically
- Turmeric, the main ingredient, is rich in curcumin which is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compound. It supports liver detoxification, which is key for metabolizing and eliminating excess estrogen (a hormone that fibroids thrive on).
- Ginger improves circulation and digestion, both essential for hormone balance. It also helps reduce inflammation and ease menstrual discomfort.
- Cinnamon supports blood sugar balance (very important for managing hormonal shifts) and has traditionally been used to “warm the womb.”
- Black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric by up to 2000%, making the latte even more effective.
- Non-dairy milks like coconut, oat, or almond help avoid the hormone disruptors often found in conventional dairy, keeping things estrogen-friendly.
- Maple Syrup, as a plant-based sweetener) it’s low on the glycemic index and rich in antioxidants. It also adds a gentle sweetness without triggering inflammatory spikes.
- Raw Honey, which contains natural antibacterial and antioxidant properties, supports gut health and adds nourishing sweetness without the effects of refined sugar.
Let’s talk about why all of this is important: Fibroids are inflammatory in nature, and I’ve been focused on supporting my liver and reducing estrogen dominance with whole foods, clean supplements, and gentle, nourishing routines. Golden Milk is one of those easy additions that make a real difference and when warm it’s not only comforting, but functional, especially when you’re on your cycle. However on a hot steamy day you can definitely enjoy it iced like I did!
Now, while I don’t snack often, I will make an exception for Tate’s cookies. These are the crispy, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth kind of cookies that never overstay their welcome. What I love most? They offer gluten-free options made with almond flour and rice flour—certified Gluten Free by the National Celiac Association. They’re also non-GMO and UO-D Kosher certified.
Here are some of my favorite flavors:
- Coconut Crisp (Non-Gluten-Free)
- Ginger Zinger (Gluten-Free)
- Lemon (Gluten-Free)
- Snickerdoodle (Non-Gluten-Free)
- Chocolate Chip (Gluten-Free)

So if you ever find yourself in South Hampton, make your way to Tate’s Bake Shop. Grab a Golden Milk Latte (iced or warm…your choice), a freshly baked treat, and definitely pick up a few cookie bags. You won’t regret it! And if you do let me know what flavors you get.
To a life styled right,
Summer Terry
