STEAL SUMMERS LOOK: MEXICO SWIMWEAR
Hey Guys, I know it’s been a while since you heard from me and I deeply apologize. Life gets in the way good and bad and good but I’ll fill you in on that in another blog post. Today is about fashion.. swimwear specifically. Ever since I came back from Mexico I’ve been asked by you all if I was going to do a blog post on my swimwear looks. Well here it is!
Read more after the jump..
Let me first start off with why I was even in Mexico. It wasn’t just a regular girls trip. I was out there for a very special occasion to witness my girlfriend Janine marry the love of her life and become Mrs. Meggett! I met Janine during a very excting time in my life fresh out college at my first job, HOT 97! I’m lucky because I made some lifelong friendships there.
Anywho, let’s get back into this #MeggettsMarryInMexico trip. We stayed at the beautiful Hard Rock Resort in Riviera Maya and when I say beautiful I mean it in every sense of the word. I wish I took pictures of the room and the grounds because words do it no justice. I will say, the next serious relationship I get in I will make it a point to go back there. I suggest you do the same and ask for room options on the Heaven side with the roof top jacuzzi (that’s all I’m going to say)! You’re Baecation will be Litt!
Majority of my looks while in Mexico was swimwear because there were wedding activity themes that centered around wearing swimwear. The first night I arrived was the “Unofficial Black Out Pool Party”. Let me preface this by saying there may not be links to some of these looks because either I purchased them years ago and it’s not available anymore or I got it from a retailer that’s not online. The black coverup I wore was from Easy Pickens y’all like 2 years ago. It’s a sheer black halter dress with a built in boy short bating suit bottom with 2 splits up the side. Safe to say I was showing a lot of skin but I was still fully covered up.
Ofcourse with stores like Easy Pickens their items are a one and done so it’s not there anymore but I did find similar options where you can re-create the look here on amazon under “Vacation Ready”.
I did have to pair a black bikini top so the nips would be covered. I purchased a simple black Mossimo Faux Wrap Halter Bikini top from Target which was literally only $24.99. On my feet I slipped into my fave black Nine West platform mules (Hype). I wear them literally with everything! They are soo comfortable, and can be worn dressed up or dressed down, and they make me feel super tall since I’m so tiny. These also were a purchase over 2 years ago and not available on the Nine West site anymore but I did some digging and I found them on Poshmark for $35 (originally ($80).
What’s a destination wedding without an all white theme event. Friday the bride set up an “All White Beach Party”. I tell you guys I’m very frugal and I rotate, remix, and recreate looks with pieces that are in my closet already a lot of the time. This white netted skirt ensemble is no different. I purchased this also from Easy Pickens and actually wore it in Jamaica last year but with the matching crop top. This time I only wore the skirt with a white Shade & Shore Halter Bikini Top from Target, also $24.99, a high waisted bikini bottom from Forever 21 (purchased last year), and sleek nude Universal Thread Flip Flops ($9.99) from Target as well.
Saturday was wedding day and the ceremony was being held on the resort so I woke up that morning and headed straight to breakfast and then the pool. It was tan time! I grabbed this peach pink 2 piece wrap up bikini top with high waist bottom I purchased from Boohoo lol a year ago. I honestly went back into my order history and the swimsuit is not available anymore. Nor did they have anything similar as I searched through the 11 pages of swimwear for you (sorry). When I first purchased this set I was not feeling it. Mainly because I have rather large boobies and I just wasn’t convinced on how the girls would look in a non wired bikini top or something with more support. It was something different and that’s why I got it, but on is a different story. So I let it sit for a while and revisited it when I started pulling looks for Mexico. Once I paired it with my cover up I was sold.
The cover up was a purchase from Amazon when I was on this Kimono craze! Now Amazon is a retailer that will always give you the best deal, will always have the item available and provide speedy shipping if you have Prime!
This Towallmark Boho Floral Printed Chiffon Beach Kimono was only $5.48 without shipping. With shipping you’d get it for about $12. What I always tell you about transition pieces? I’ve worn this kimono with jeans, a simple black tank dress, a jumpsuit, and now a swimsuit. I’d say I got my $6 worth lol.
I don’t have any pictures from the wedding besides this one with my girls and the bride right after the ceremony because that reception was just too damn LITT! But I do have details on the dress I wore. I got it from Boohoo, it’s the Cleo Floral Sweetheart Off The Shoulder Midi Dress ($16 right now). I actually have this dress in Red also on the blog. It literally snatches you up in ALL the right places. I love a dress with a good hold. It’s modeled off the shoulders but I didn’t wear it off the shoulder only because it wasn’t most flattering that way on me. But the dress is a must have for any occasion.
Because Janine knew she was having LITT ass wedding reception she planned a “Hangover Brunch” the following morning where she asked guests to wear something red. Sticking to the theme and giving the Bride what she wanted I worked magic that morning. My body was aching and I was exhausted from the reception party. I took a long black tulle skirt and a red bikini both purchased from Easy Pickens some odd years ago and then because after 3 days on a all inclusive resort I was feeling bloated with all the food and drinks I pulled on this Lilian Beach Mesh Side Split Maxi Dress ($10) on top of it. Okay hold on I know you’re probably thinking Summer, a long black tulle skirt and a long maxi dress? See I wasn’t comfortable with my midsection that morning so the maxi dress I converted it into a wrap shirt. I took the two pieces from the side splits and wrapped them in opposite directions around my waist and secured it as a top. My something red was my bikini underneath and my red lips courtesy of the The Lip Bar in Boy Trouble!
Now that I’ve taken you through my swimwear looks and cover ups I want you to think about what you have in your closet already before you run to the stores to purchase a whole new wardrobe for fa ew days of vacation. Get back to that young girl that loved to play dress up. I’ve never grown out of pulling pieces out my closet and pulling looks together..even when I’m not going anywhere. Also, as you can see for something like swimwear and coverups don’t be afraid to stop in your local thot stores, browse amazon, or hit up Target! It will definitely save you some coins! Until next time.
Happy Shopping Divas,
