LET’S TALK HAIR: DEVA CURL COLLECTION

As a naturalist it’s normal to have tons of hair care products. You watch YouTubers, fall in love with their hair, and take the products that they used in the video as gospel. You automatically think it’s going to work for your hair the same way. Well that’s not always the case…BUT sometimes it can be!

That was the case with the Deva Curl Collection. Not only is the brand known for its amazing hair care at their salons the products yield beautiful results.  I’ve done my share of twist outs, bantu knot outs, perm rod sets, braid outs, etc you name it and with countless products. Besides the Cantu Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream that is a main staple in my hair care regimen this Deva Curl Collection is the holy grail.

 

 

I’ve never been able to wear a protective style for more than a day without having too re-twist at night. Using the Deva Curl products I’ve been able to get at least 3 days out of a good flat twist out. I could probably stretch it to 5 days longer if I did puffs or faux hawks. The routine I used entailed co-washing with the One Condition Decadence Ultra Moisturizing Milk Conditioner followed by the Heaven In Hair Intense Moisture Treatment as a deep conditioner for 45 mins. I actually left it on longer because I got caught up in a work project. After I washed that out I did mix in another brand of leave in conditioner along with jojoba oil to lock in some moisture. The stylers I used were the Coconut Curl Styler and the Ultra Defining Gel Strong Hold No Crunch Styler. Section by section I applied 1 part Coconut Curl Styler and 1 part Ultra Defining Gel. While using a very small amount I was still able to achieve the most luscious defined soft curls EVER in life…well my life.
