STEAL SUMMER’S LOOK: CORPORATE CHIC
I’m all for self expression through fashion. I’m also big on playing dress up and creating different personalities and characters (I blame it on being an only child). Either way I create those characters through my wardrobe. Today I was feeling very Corporate Chic Cutie so thats the ensemble I pieced together.
Find out more about this look after the jump.
This Corporate Chic look was created around the long linen belted vest. Usually that’s how it goes. I pick one piece and layer around it. Lately I’ve been obsessed with long tunics, dusters, kimonos, and vests which is odd because I just recently joined the 5ft nothing crew. And even though it was reaching up to 90 degrees here in New York I still went with the linen layered long vest. Listen I dress for fashion not for the weather.
The off white almost cream long linen sleeveless belted trench was a fab find from H&M back in April. It features draped lapels that I absolutely died for, large front pockets, and a tie belt at the waist. This item is no longer on the website but don’t fret, I still came through with a similar vest. The sleeveless trenchcoat below is also from H&M. It’s practically the same thing but instead of linen this trench is in a woven textured fabric. It might be a little heavier in texture so I’m not quite sure if you want to give it a go in this 90 degree weather. However you can always keep it tucked away until September. For $59 you can wear this piece in so many different ways.
Moving on from the main attraction piece I decided to add something with a rich hue since the trenchcoat was in a natural soft color. Digging in the crates I found this burgundy H&M stripe midi pencil skirt circa 2014 and paired it with a matching sleeveless a.n.a top from JC Penny. Yesssss affordable finds my loves. You don’t need to break the bank to look stylish.
Now obviously my skirt is no longer in stock but I found another midi skirt very very close to it. This Monks Stripe Midi Tube Skirt is from one of my favorite online retailers ASOS. It’s made of stretch jersey so it will hug all the curves just right, a high-rise waist for my Divas with a little cushion in the mid section, and a mini kickback split. This skirt can be worn to work, to brunch, to the club, with heels, with sneakers, with slides and its only $57.
To tie in the whole look we’re going to top it off with a sleeveless top from a.n.a available at JC Penny (don’t sleep) for $14. This look whole look will cost you less than $150 and they are all transitional pieces so you’ll get your money’s worth.
Until next time, Happy Shopping Divas!
