TRAVEL WITH SUMMER: BIRTHDAY IN CANCUN, MEXICO
It’s been a while since I been on a vacation so when I knew my birthday was coming up I started the planning process and Mexico was the choice! And what a perfect choice it was.

Having never been to Mexico it was a bit overwhelming deciding where to stay and what resort to choose. I noticed that although many of these resorts are beautiful the rooms were so so. Part of that was my dilemma in choosing a hotel but I was able to find exactly what I wanted at the Riu Palace Peninsula.
The grounds were amazingly landscaped, the suite was very modernized with a great view of the ocean, the staff was gracious, and the food was delightful. I would definitely stay there again.
Every morning I enjoyed breakfast in a well air conditioned area with the view of the beach. Pancakes, bacon, eggs, mimosas, and the beach….what more can a girl ask for, truly! Just as delectable was the breakfast choices so was the dinner layout. Even though there are multiple restaurants at the resort I found that the food in the buffet dining area was the best. Maybe because I like to have options.
I was there for an entire week and on the actual day of my birthday I took a catamaran boat ride to Isla Mujeres. I was able to lay out on the front of the boat, tan, and feel the waves underneath as we rode the ocean. I honestly feel like I am supposed to live by the water. Although, I can’t swim and I’m deathly afraid of drowning I still feel one with the ocean.
I know the perception of being in Cancun is one of TURN UP, TURN UP, TURN UP, but I literally just wanted to enjoy some sun, the water, and just relaxation. I beach bummed each day, I sun tanned a lot, and ate a lot.
Each night I got all dolled and dressed up to dine and on my birthday especially I had a special dinner of lobster & steak along with unlimited rounds of premium tequila that my waiter supplied from his personal stash. I was also surprised with a entire chocolate tiramisu cake and a bottle on house tequila that was left in my room.
For my first time in Mexico and to be to be able to take myself through hard work I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe I could have partied and explored the hotel zone strip but there’s always next time.
Until the next trip,
xoxo – Summer Terry
