WEDDING SEASON MAKEUP
Have you ever surprised yourself with a super good beat and was shocked at your non-MUA skills afterwards? Well that was me this weekend. On Sunday my cousin got married and I beat my face to the GAWDS to prepare for it.
See more after the jump…
We all have those days where we put effort into our makeup and something just doesn’t quite do it. Like something is off. Then there’s days where we are rushing and the best comes out spectacular and vice versa. Sunday I had ever intention on taking my time to do my makeup but I had to run errands first thing in the morning. By the time I got back in the house I had literally an hour to shower, do makeup, lay my wig (yes I said wig hunty), and get dressed. To my dismay everything came out perfect.
Before adding any makeup I prep my face with a nice hydrated clean palette. Healthy clear skin is the foundation to a flawless beat! Lately I’ve been using LANEIGE skincare products. You can read all about my skincare routine here. Once my face is all glowy and moisturized I apply the LANEIGE Mini Pore Blur Perfector to minimize some excess shine and control oiliness. Following a good primer I then go in with my FENTY Beauty Pro FILT’R foundation in 420. Just 2-3 quick pumps on the beauty blender and pat pat pat all over my face down my neckline. I do this because I hate to see women with clear demarcation of where the makeup ends on the jawline. Blend it down ladies…blend it down! Once my foundation is set I go in and with my highlight and contour routine. I use L.A. Girl HD-Pro Conceal in toffee under my eye, down the bridge of my nose, and on my forehead blending it in with a beauty blender and setting it with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. While that is baking, I use my True Complexion Creme Contour Palette in medium to dark. I love it because the cremes are oil free and blend easily. I use the darkest shade to contour under my cheek bones and alone the sides of my noes starting from the eyebrows down and I blend for dear God, lol. After all is blended to perfection I take a fluffy powder brush to remove the excess of the translucent loose setting powder. At this point I usually use my tried and true MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium/Dark but I ran out. So I received a complimentary gift of Jane Iredale Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation in cognac which happens to be a great stand in. It’s lightweight and enough coverage to do the job especially since I don’t really need anything more than medium coverage. At this point my base is done and I can start to play around with bronzers, lippies and mascara.
No beat is complete to me with my MAC Bronzing Powder in refined golden and a highlight on the side of the orbital eye bone from that same True Complexions Creme Contour Palette. A little bit of Maybelline Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision eyeliner in blackest black and an Ardell Wispie lash and the eyes are complete. I’m not one for eye shadow aka I don’t have the time nor the professional know how to perfect in less than 30 minutes lol so the most I’ll do is Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Washable mascara, and lashes. I recently cleaned out all my lippies and found some shades I haven’t worn in forever so I decided to pull them out for the occasion. Especially since my dress was a blush pink color I thought a nice dusty purple ombre lip would compliment it. I lined my lips with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu and filled in the with elf Tea Rose matte lipstick. At this point the beat is complete and I could lay my wig (let me know if you want a blog post on that), and throw on my dress from FashionNova and hit he door!
Until Next Time,
xoxo – Summer Terry
I love these makeup tips! You are beat for the gawds! I think I’m gonna try the ombré lip next!
You’re very welcome! I don’t call myself a MUA but experimenting is fun.
