LET’S TALK SKIN: ITWORKS SKINCARE

Hey Divas, I know I been neglecting you and I sooo do apologize but I’ve been working really hard on multiple projects. So please accept my deepest apology……now can we kiss and make up so I can get into this glow of mine that my skin has been showing as of lately.

Those of you who have been following me for quite some time know how big I am in beauty and skincare. I take my skin very seriously and yes I wear makeup on a daily almost. But most importantly, I make sure I do what is needed to take care of my skin so that I don’t HAVE to wear makeup. Besides makeup our skin is the largest external organ of our body. Just imagine all the toxins it contains from just going outside. So when I found about ItWorks! Skincare I jumped on the idea to try it out.

ItWorks! Skincare is a natural botanical based skincare line. Meaning that its comprised of ingredients such as aloe, green tea, chamomile, lavender, and citrus fruit extracts. Let me go through some of my faves and why I love them so much.

The cleanser is an awesome soap free clean rinsing gel. So it’s not super sudsy and it gently cleans my face without leaving my skin feeling stripped and dry. It removes all the oil, dirt, and yes even a full face of makeup. Other cleansers I’ve always had to use a Olay facial wipe first but not with this cleanser. One application of a generous amount and my beat for the day is gone and my face is feeling soft and smooth. Another awesome tidbit about the cleanser is that its a multipurpose cleanser. Because of its botanical ingredients and natural based formula you can use it as a body wash too. Oh and you can’t leave Bae out! Bae can use it as part of his grooming as a silky, clean -rinsing shaving lather. That’s right, the products are not formulated for just women, men can use them as well.

I never knew the importance of toner until now. Toner is what you apply after you cleanse the face. What it does is restores your skin to its natural pH balance. Well what does that mean? Good question because I used to read stuff like that and be lost so I thought I didn’t need it until I educated myself on it.

pH, which stands for potential of hydrogen, measures the acid or alkaline levels of a solution.

The pH scale ranges from 0-14:

Acid 0-6.9 (coffee, lemon juice)
Neutral 7 (pure water)
Alkaline 7.1-14 (toothpaste, baking soda)
Skin has a pH of about 5.5, which is mildly acidic. Harsh chemicals (whether acid or alkaline) can strip away the skin’s protective layer, or acid mantle.

So what the toner’s job is, is once the cleanser opens up your pores and pulls all the toxins, dirt and oil off your face the toner refreshes, restores, and rebalances your skin to its natural pH level tighten and lessening the appearance of your pores. It helps with improving your skin tone and texture. A definite must that I have been skipping all of my life because I wasn’t aware of its importance.

Last but not least is the game changer, lol. That’s what I call it because after my first time using it I knew it was about to take my skin to whole other level.  The exfoliating peel uses them fruit extracts I was telling y’all about to strip away the dead skin cells, excess oils, and daily debris from outside pollution. This is not something I would recommend using on a daily basis. You can start out using it twice a week and then just weekly. This product will help with a clean and clear complexion, and more youthful glow, and it will make your face feel as smooth and silky as a newborn babies bottom. I kid you not! While I was rinsing it off I could not help but to notice how my hands and fingers were just gliding on this surface that felt like something I wasn’t used to. Now I never had really bad acne or anything just an occasional breakout from ladies time of the month, stress, poor diet, etc but I also knew my skin never felt like this before. I was in pure AMAZEMENT!
